Smithfield Case Makes "RI's Most Wanted"

Police are seeking two suspects in connection with a stolen truck that was later used to steal a snow plow.

A Smithfield Police Department case of two suspects who stole a truck, then used it to steal a snow plow, has been listed on the Rhode Island Most Wanted website.

The site, managed by the Rhode Island State Police, includes a description of the Nov. 23 incident and photos of the vehicle that one of the suspects was driving.

According to the report, two as-yet unidentified suspects stole a truck from Lamar & Sons, a heating and air conditioning business at 19 Commerce St., at about 7 pm last Friday night.

Police suspect that the two used the truck to steal the plow from another local business before abandoning the truck in Providence.

Surveillance cameras caught one of the suspects walking through a parking lot, and recorded the suspected accomplice's vehicle, which police identified as a grey or silver ford Expedition EL, the longer-wheelbase model of the truck.

Anyone with information is asked to call Smithfield Police Det. Christopher J. Taylor at (401) 231-2500, ext. 124. The local department has assigned case number 12-1164-OF to the incident.
