Smithfield Fire Dept. Bids Farewell to Capt. Leonard Anthony
Anthony is retiring from the local department after 25 years.
Members of the Smithfield Fire Department are scheduled to hold a reception this afternoon for retiring Capt. Leonard Anthony, a 25-year veteran of the department.
After joining the SFD call system in 1984, Anthony joined the department as a firefighter on Oct. 27, 1987. He advanced to the rank of rescue lieutenant in 2002, and to the rank of EMS captain this past August.
Anthony instructed the department's LoJack Search Team and CPR program; was a member of the Group Crisis Intervention Team and the Metro EMS Association; and served as the department's liaison to the Smithfield Emergency Management Agency.
The Vice President of the Woonasquatucket Valley Firemen’s League, Anthony holds hazmat operational level certification and completed Incident Command System 100 and 200 courses.
Anthony and his wife, Gail, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
