Town Councilor Steps Down from Board of Trustees

To avoid any conflict of interest, the town council president has left Bryant University's Board of Trustees.

Smithfield Town Council President Alberto J. LaGreca Jr. has recently stepped down from Bryant University's Board of Trustees, reports The Observer

LaGreca, a Republican and previous council president, stepped down to avoid any conflicts of interest, according to the article. He was serving a three-year term on the board.

LaGreca is also the owner of Rome Packing Co., an East Providence distribution company.

However, according to The Observer, LaGreca's resignation comes at a time when new tax legislation is being introduced, including a bill that could give the town authority to tax the university. To read more on this story, click here
