Albert A. Iannone: WW II Navy Vet, Longtime Owner of Providence's Prairie Diner


Albert A. Iannone of Harcourt Street, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, according to Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home

He was the husband of the late Gertrude I. (Bukowski) Iannone. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (DeSegna) Iannone.

Mr. Iannone was a World War II Navy veteran. He spent his life’s work as co-owner and operator of the Prairie Diner along with his brother, Ernest and son, Robert. The diner was located in a section of South Providence where it stood for over 60 years until it closed its doors on January 2, 2006.

Mr. Iannone is survived by his daughters, Diana M. Masello and her husband, Stephen, of Cranston and Sandra L. Natella and her husband, Gary of Annapolis, MD; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Kyle Masello and a sister, Theresa Rao of Cranston. He was the father of the late Robert A. Iannone and brother of the late Ernest A. Iannone, Anna Messore, Philomena Rossi and Mary Manzi.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Alexander Church, 221 Main St., Warren, RI 02885. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Alexander Church
