East Smithfield Library to Celebrate Dr. Seuss and Youth Reading

Families are invited to commemorate Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss on Friday.

On Friday, March 1 from 2-4 p.m., East Smithfield Public Library  (50 Esmond St.) will host a free Read Across America Celebration to encourage youth reading and imagination.

Read Across America began in 1998 and is an annual reading motivation and awareness program sponsored by the National Education Association. It calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.

Although he died on Sept. 24, 1991, Dr. Seuss lives on, inspiring future generations of children to explore the joys of reading. At Friday's event, guests will play silly games and read books written by him while celebrating everything Seuss!

This is a drop-in program. No registration is required.
