5 Things: Project, Pumpkins, Pics

Barnes School's annual pumpkin painting night leads the 5 Things to Know Today for Oct. 19, 2012.

 

1. Project: The six-and-a-half month project to replace the Stillwater Viaduct on Rte. 116 has been completed, and there's a ceremonial reopening scheduled for 2:30 pm this afternoon. Watch SmithfieldPatch for coverage.

2. Pumpkins: Take a photo of your glitzy gourd and submit it to our Pumkpin Decorating contest, open to readers of all Rhode Island Patch sites. Entry is free.

3. Pics: All of the Patch sites across America are also hosting a Best Halloween Costume contest — winner gets $5,000.

4. Skate: The Municipal Ice Rink hosts public skating today from noon to 2 pm. $3 to get in the door, $5 to get in skates.
