5 Things: Contests, Class, Conditioning

Patch's two Halloween competitions, exercise at the Ice Rink, and the last day to sing up for the citizens' police academy make the 5 Things to Know for Today for Oct. 22.

 

1. Contests: Patch has two ways to get into the Halloween spirit:

  • Pumpkin Decorating: Post your decorated pumpkins here and enter to win a gift card in the Rhode Island Patch contest.
  • Best Costume in America: Have a great costume? Upload your photo here and see if yours is named the best in all of Patchland. Winner scores $5,000.

2. Class: Today"s the last day to register for the citizens academy at the Smithfield Police Department. Contact Ptlm. Orlando Braxton for more information.

3. Conditioning: What better way to stay in shape than with a little hockey? The Municipal Ice Rink hosts two hours of public ice time for enforcers and snipers from 11 am to 1 pm. $5 per player, goalies get in free.
