Anytime Fitness Success Story: Sean Clough

Anytime Fitness, the 24-hour co-ed fitness club, is helping people find success, including their June Member of the Month, Sean Clough:

Sean started with AF Smitty on Nov. 26, 2012. Sean's fitness goal when he walked in was not specific, he just knew he wanted to lose weight. After meeting with the Fitness Director for his consultation, Sean narrowed that goal to a 60 lb. weight loss. Sean comes to the club on average, 6 days a week. His routine mainly consisted of cardiovascular workouts.

In April, Sean started working with a trainer, Alicia. Sean is meeting with his trainer once a month, but is actively trying to increase that. He still does cardio every gym visit, but has incorporated at least 3 days of strength training as well.

As of today, Sean has lost 30 lbs. including a decrease in his body fat % (which means more muscle than fat!).

What has been the most difficult part of your journey so far?

Probably sticking to a fairly strict diet. I have taken recommendations from my trainer and added more protein. I snack less, but eat more through the day. The tricky part for me is all the events and holidays - there is always free beer!

Would you consider this to be a diet/phase or a lifestyle change? Why?

Definitely a lifestyle change, even though I struggle sometimes, I do much better than I use to. It has gotten a lot easier as I have stuck with it.

How have your achievements, thus far, affected your life outside of the gym?

I feel better every day. I feel more accomplished. It's a happy-problem, but I'm spending money on new clothes. I look good though, so it's worth it.

My experience is that if you really want to do it, you can! The biggest hurdle is making yourself start. People have told me forever to go to the gym, but I never did. I can't explain it, but I just woke up one morning and wanted to do it, so I did. That's the hardest part, holding yourself accountable. If you need help, the people at Anytime Fitness are there for you.
