Friday Five: Asset Management, Egg Coloring, Storytime, Recycling Survey

Asset Management Commission - Smithfield's Asset Management Commission meets March 19, 5:30 p.m. Among the items on their agenda, they'll discuss an offer to the town to purchase two parcels of land.

Ukranian egg dyeing - Come try your hand at Pysanky, the Ukrainian tradition of dyeing eggs Saturday, March 16, 1 – 3 p.m. Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Road Learn about design, planning and dyeing eggs. Handouts will be given regarding where to obtain Pysanky tools and dyes to continue the tradition at home. All supplies are provided. Wear clothes that can get messy — the dyes are permanent. Age Range: 9+. Member Fee: $15/member. Non-Member Fee: $20/non-member. Registration is required for all programs unless noted. Preschool Storytime (Maxine's Tree) -  Enjoy storytime with your preschooler Friday, March 15, 1 - 2 p.m. at Powder Mill Ledges Wildlife Refuge, 12 Sanderson Road. The programs include the reading of a nature story with hands-on activities followed by a nature craft or live animal visit. Adults must accompany children. Age Range: Ages 3-5. Member Fee: $5/member child. Non-Member Fee: $6/non-member child. Registration is required for all programs unless noted. Recycling Survey - Take the Recycling Department survey, a fun and easy way to help improve town wide recycling. It only takes a few minutes to complete.

Board post openings - The town is seeking members to serve on the Sewer Authority, Historic Preservation Commission, Affordable Housing Advisory Board, and Financial Review Commission. Interested parties should submit a letter of interest to the Town Manager’s Office, 64 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917 along with an application form.  A letter of interest may contain your interest or experience in the field of each particular board or commission that you are applying for and, optionally, résumé information.
