Thursday Five: Relay, Financial Town Meeting Tonight, Music, Recreation, Swim

Happy Thursday, Smithfield - have a look at today's things to know:

 

Relay - Smithfield's Relay for Life - an all-night walking relay, party and fundraiser to bolster research into a cure and treatments for cancer - is coming up June 22 at Smithfield High School's track, 90 Plesant View Ave.  Mark it off on your calendar, look up relayers and donate to their teams, or join up.

Music rain date - Due to the weather, Tuesday's Musical Night at the gazebo was canceled. Come back next week for the Nancy Carr Trio from 6-8pm on June 18 at The Crossing at Smithfield

Financial Town Meeting - The Smithfield Financial Town Meeting is coming up June 13, 7 p.m. at Smithfield High School. Check out Smithfield Patch's coverage of the Budget Hearing May 14, and then have a look at the budget they approved.

Summer Recreation Program - Registration is still open for Smithfield's summer recreation program through June 14. The program, run by the Smithfield YMCA, will be held at Gallagher Middle School, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All participants that register for the Town Recreation Program will be dropped off & picked up at Gallagher daily.

Y swim lesson house calls - Smithfield YMCA will come to your house for swim lessons this summer. If you have a pool, or know somebody who does, call the YMCA and book your very own backyard pool swim lessons. You can also invite friends and split the cost with them for professionally taught swim lessons, by a certified instructor and lifeguard. Call 401-949-2480.
