Barbara J. Warrington: Church & Scout Leader, Bryant '49

Barbara J. Warrington, 85, died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 14 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, according to Holt Funeral Home.

She was the wife of the late Norman A. Warrington for 44 years. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Ruby (Keats) Christiansen. She had lived in Slatersville for 80 years. She graduated from Burrillville High School in 1945, attended Pembroke College and graduated from Bryant College in 1949. 

Barbara's greatest love was being with her family. She enjoyed serving as a Scout and 4-H leader, watching countless sporting events and concerts, and visiting and vacationing with her children and grandchildren. Most of all, she loved it when her home was filled with all her kids. She was also a great friend to many people, always willing to share her time, laughter, and smile with them. Her second love was for her church, the Slatersville Congregational Church, and its congregation, where she was a member for 77 years. She served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, deacon, president of the Ladies Parish Guild, and chairman of various committees throughout the years. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 11AM in Slatersville Congregational Church . Burial will follow in Slatersville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 from 4 to 7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St. Woonsocket.
