David E. Keene, Sr., 73: US Air Force Veteran

The lifelong Smithfield resident passed away on Aug. 6, 2013.

David E. Keene, Sr., 73, of Farnum Pike in Smithfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in the Hospice Inpatient Center surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Laurel (Cranshaw) Keene. They had been married for 49 years. Born in Smithfield, a son of the late Henry and Beatrice (Jeffrey) Keene, he lived in Smithfield his whole life.

Mr. Keene was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was employed with the Smithfield DPW for many years before retiring in 1980.

Besides his wife, he leaves his sons, David E. Keene, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda of Smithfield and Stephen A. Keene and his wife, Danielle of Smithfield; four grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Olivia and Austin; his twin sister Brenda Wood of Bradford, ME; two brothers, Walter Keene of North Smithfield and Ernest Keene of Smithfield. He was the brother of the late George Keene.

His funeral will be held Monday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield. Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
