Ralph R. Williams, 89: Past Master of Greenville Mason Lodge

Visiting hours for the Smithfield native are Wednesday afternoon in Wickford.

Ralph R. Williams, 89, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013 at South County Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Martha G. (Westerveld) Williams.  Born in Smithfield, he was a son of the late Edgar L. Williams and Elizabeth J. (McGrory) Williams.

Mr. Williams was a sign serviceman for Centredale Sign Company until his retirement. 

A member of “greatest generation”, Ralph joined the Merchant Marines, followed by the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Europe during WWII. He was the Past Master of Temple Lodge #18 F. & A. M. of Greenville and a member of The Independent Order of Odd Fellows of East Greenwich.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wickford.

Besides his wife, he leaves his five daughters: Marlies A. Marcel and her husband Aiden of Englewood, FL, Helen G. Greene and her husband Theodore of Orlando, FL, Linda E. Young of East Providence, Sharon L. Renners and her husband Klaus of Koblenz, Germany, and Marlene H. Groves and her husband Steven of North Kingstown.  Cherished grandfather of Kim Adams, Dennine Thorley, Missy Redding, Theodore F. Greene, IV, Tara Harvill, Belynda Harte, Nathan Young, Mark Reinmann, Derek S. Groves, Bryan R. Groves, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.  He was the grandfather of the late Todd H. Greene.  Cherished brother of the late Chester Williams, Edgar Williams, Henry Williams, Lucille Farrar, Gertrude Williams, Hazel Battey, Elizabeth Barcey, and Ruth Williams.

His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. in The First Baptist Church in Wickford, 44 Main St.  Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. 

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
