Robert E. Straight: Former VP of RI Hospital Trust Bank, Korean War Vet

Robert E. Straight, 84, of Greenville, a former Vice President of Rhode Island Hospital Trust Bank, died on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, according to Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home.

He was the beloved husband of Shirley E. (Smith) Straight. They had been married for 58 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Edward and Isabel (Bridgford) Straight. He lived in Greenville for the last 53 years.

Mr. Straight received his bachelor’s degree from Bryant College, and completed post graduate courses at the University of Chicago and the University of Oklahoma.

He was an army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Straight was a member of Washington Lodge #3 F & A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, RI Shriner. He was a past Director of Providence Court No. 7 Royal Order of Jesters, Past Treasurer of the Masonic Veterans Association, a life member of Providence Lodge #14 BPO Elks and a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company. A Holy Eucharist in his memory will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, at the intersection of Routes 44 and 116, Greenville. Burial will be at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
