Providence Grand Jury Indicts Smithfield Man On Child Molestation Charge

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

The Providence County Grand Jury reported an indictment Friday for a Smithfield man accused of molesting a four-year-old girl in Johnston.

The indictment charges Lance Nicoletti, 26, of 5 Oakhurst Drive, Greenville, with one count of first degree child molestation.

It is alleged that on a day or date between Aug. 23, 2012 and Aug. 24, 2012, Nicoletti molested a person 14 years or under.

The alleged molestation took place in Johnston and the Johnston Police conducted the investigation.  Nicoletti, who is currently held without bail, is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on March 13, 2013.

Johnston Police arrested Nicoletti Aug. 24 following what officers described as a "disturbance" at a local home.

Nicoletti is currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions, Cranston, for violating terms of probation set for an earlier charge of making crank or obscene phone calls.
