Police have identified the 49-year-old man who died after a paragliding accident over the weekend as Aldaro Etcheverry, of Smithfield.
Etcheverry was using a self-powered parachute when he crashed into the Merrimack River, police said.
Two friends who tried to save him were treated for exposure in the frigid water.
Investigators said they're still not sure exactly what happened and if there was a mechanical problem that caused the crash.
