Old County Road Playground Project Seeking Donations For Silent Auction

May 3 event will raise funds to rebuild school's playground.

May 3 is only a few months away, so the Old County Road Playground Project is letting people know they're looking for donations and volunteers for their Silent Auction, "Swing Into Spring".

The OCRPlayground Project touts the event as an evening of music and merriment from 7 to 10 p.m. on the organization's facebook page. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 after April 25th.

The May 3 event is scheduled nearly halfway through 2013, the deadline year the OCRPlayground Project set for raising the $70K required for new equipment, landscaping, installation of a paved walking path, and refurbishment of the current basketball court and playing field.

Meanwhile, if you've got a particular talent or service you could donate or can arrange a donation from the company you work for, or can you ask your company to place an ad in the program, the OCRPlayground Project would like to hear from you.

The OCRPlayground Project was founded in 2011 by a group of parents and teachers concerned with the state and safety of The Old County Road School playground, according to the group's website.

The two playgrounds adjacent to OCRS were built more than 30 years ago, according to the playground project website. The playground has reached the end of its useful life and requires replacement, it says.

The initiative would provide safe structures on which children could play. Anyone wishing to contribute to the cause or the fundraiser can contact the group at 100weekstoplay@gmail.com.
