Smithfield Advances to Quarterfinals
The Sentinels beat Cranston West 57-41, thanks to 17 from Fallon Greene.
The Smithfield High School girls’ basketball team led by 12 at the half en route to a commanding 57-41 win against Cranston West in their preliminary round game of the Division I playoffs.
According to a box score and recap published by The Providence Journal, Fallon Greene led the No. 6 Sentinels with 17 points. Rachel Balcom (12) and Lauren Hindley (10) also scored in double figures.

Next up for Smithfield is No. 3 seed Barrington. The Eagles are 16-2 in Division I play, and 20-2 overall. Barrington’s only losses this year are to No. 4 Westerly and No. 1 Exeter-West Greenwich.
The game is 12 p.m. at Rhode Island College on Saturday. The semifinals are 6 p.m. Tuesday at RIC, and the state final is 4 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at the Ryan Center on the University of Rhode Island campus in Kingston.
