What's Happening This Weekend in Smithfield?

Check out the slate of activities in and around Smithfield for the weekend of June 14-16.

Another week of on-and-off weather just might have you thinking of weekend activities.

Rain is expected today, clearing on Saturday and Sunday with a return of precipitation forecast for Sunday night — so make your plans now and get out!

Friday, June 14:

  • 12 pm: Public Skating at Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink. $3 to get in, $5 to rent skates. Also June 16 at 12 pm. 
  • 3:45 pm: Art Smart with Ms. Melyssa at Mohr Library in Johnston. Learn the styles of famous master artists. For kids in grades 3 through 6. Free
  • 6 pm: Aerodance at the Cranston YMCA. Sign up now for the 8-wek progressive class.
  • 8 pm: Ghost Tour starting at Prospect Terrace in Providence. Take a walking tour of the darkened streets of the historic East Side and see what happens. $18. Also June 15 at 8 pm

Saturday, June 15:

  • 9 am: Field Day for Smithfield Little League at Deerfield Park. Players in T-Ball, A, and AA divisions take to the field for some friendly contests in pitching, hitting, and running. And at the end, players get to throw water balloons at the coaches. Free.
  • 11 am: Grand Opening at Extraordinary Child, 3 Industrial Drive. Vendors, food, bouncy house, and exercise classes. For kids with special needs and their families. Free.
  • 1 pm: Bead Exchange at Mohr Library. Bring your extra beads, and see if there is something you like that someone else has. Also, bring some samples of your work. For adults.

Sunday, June 16:

  • All day: Summer Camp Registration at Mother of Hope Camp, located on Echo Lake in Chepachet. $160 per camper, $150 each sibling. For a complete list of area summer camps, click here. Also June 15 and 16.
