Woman Returns From Vacation, Finds Crack Pipe in Her Bed

Smithfield Police continue to investigate a report of suspicious activity Sept. 12, at about 7:45 a.m., from a woman at an Oliver Street address who found drug paraphernalia and copies of her prescription slips after leaving her house in the care of a dog watcher.

The home owner had returned that day to find a crack pipe on her bed, along with copied prescriptions in her drawers. The owner also found a used intravenous needle and laptop in the basement.

The dog watcher in question, a 24-year-old Coventry woman, a friend of the home owner, said she'd invited her ex-boyfriend to the house to watch movies Sept. 6, and suspected he had left the drug items and papers behind after she had fallen asleep.

Smithfield Police are continuing to investigate the incident. No charges have yet been brought against anyone involved, since there were no traces of drugs found on the scene and police are still working to determine if the owner's prescriptions were used to obtain drugs.
